What is never collected

There is no account system, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to build. The site stores nothing about you on the server: results are computed from your input and thrown away. Nothing you type is sent to a third party to be interpreted, because nothing on this site is interpreted by a model at all.

Analytics

If you accept, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. It records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use.

Worth being explicit about, because it is easy to miss: what you look up is part of the page address. Asking about the number 47 takes you to /47, so accepting analytics means that lookup is recorded as a page view. If that matters to you, reject. Every answer on the site is identical either way.

Google acts as our processor for this data and may process it outside the UK. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.

Cookies

Before you choose, no cookies are set. If you accept, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id>, which distinguish one visitor from another and expire after two years.

Your choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage under nerdulator.consent. That never leaves your device and is not a tracking identifier; it exists so the banner does not ask you on every page.

Consent mode

The analytics tag loads with every storage permission denied and stays that way unless you accept. In that state it may send Google a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with no identifier and nothing written to your device. Rejecting keeps it in that state permanently.

Legal basis and your rights

Analytics cookies are used only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the control at the top of this page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving, and refusing costs you nothing on this site.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Because there is no account and no server-side record, most requests are answered by clearing your browser storage, but if you want anything confirmed or removed, ask.

Advertising

The site reserves space in its layout for adverts but ships no advertising script and serves no adverts today. If that changes, this page changes with it and you will be asked again.
